Winter Wahoo Tackle Tips

This time of year is wahoo. We use high speed trolling lures with heavy trolling weights and 200# shock cord. Capable of speeds up to 60 mph, wahoo have little trouble attacking lures trolled at 15 knots. Additionally, fast trolling speeds allow anglers to cover large areas of water. Always have a ‘jig stick’ ready when trolling for wahoo too in case there are more fish! Cast a smaller, low-profile jig that will give a wahoo less to grab onto and better chances to get hooked.
