Fishing Report Ponce Inlet Dec 11th – 18th

With the cold snap hitting this weekend we can expect the Sheepshead to be heading into the river. For best results try fishing the docks on the outgoing tide using fiddler crabs and lightest leader you can get away with. The average catch ratio of Sheepshead is one out of five bites. If you’d like to hone your hook setting skills this is the fish to do it with.   Book your offshore or deep sea fishing trip with Searok Charters!

Cedar Key Fishing Report: November 20th-26th

Cedar Key Fishing Report: November 20th-26th Fishing in unfamiliar territory is always intimidating due to the lack of knowledge of the area. With a little help from local fisherman and bait shops we managed to put together a decent weekend. Ran out in the Gulf between 14 and 22 miles at 40 foot of depth and looked for live bottom on our machine. The sea bass where literally everywhere. Every single drop we caught at least one. In the mix were short gag groupers, red groupers and mackerels. Groupers seemed to like cigar minnows and the bass loved the squid.

Ponce Inlet Offshore Fishing Report 11-5 to 11-12

Fishing report for 11-5 to 11-12.   Mother nature decided not to let us go offshore this week especially because it was the second weekend of snapper season which we haven’t had in 3 years. Word on the street is the NOAA is going to give us a make up weekend. That has yet to be announced, Lets hope for smooth seas and hungry fish. I recently did an interview with FOX 35 Orlando regarding artificial reefs and how it affects fishing. This week a tugboat will be sunk as part of the artificial reef.   View the story and

Ponce Inlet Fishing Report: Oct 26th – Nov 2nd

Ponce Inlet fishing report for October 26th to November 2nd Took the Costa del Mar Italian sunglasses frame manufacturing team fishing for some offshore action. We wanted to show them different species of fish available in Florida. Started the day with some bottom fishing at the Party Grounds. Much like last week the bottom fishing was non stop action. We caught trigger fish, red eyes, red snappers, sea bass and sharks. Needless to say they were exhausted from the constant reeling 1/2 way through the day. My mate and I decided to show them how trolling works.. Ran a couple

Ponce Inlet Offshore Fishing Report

Ponce Inlet offshore fishing report for October 22 to 28th.   Water is still green at the 100 feet of depth but it’s clearing up. Bottom fishing has been spectacular. Red eyes, red snappers, porgy’s, sea bass and groupers are biting pretty much anything you throw down to the bottom. On the troll the king mackerel are back and hungry. The spoon color of choice is green with a red reflective tape or silver with a green reflective tape seems to yield best results. Spanish mackerel are also thick with live bait bump trolling. Mahi can still be found between

St. Augustine Fishing Report: Oct 15th – 21st

The water is still extremely dirty in the St. Augustine area and the water levels are at their highest in many years. The fishing is tough due to the lack of water clarity. For best results soaking live shrimp on the bottom will yield some redfish bites on the outgoing tide. The snook are hungry for live mullet if you can get them to see it. Try a popping cork with either live shrimp or live mullet with a 2 foot leader if you find cleaner water. Book your offshore or deep sea fishing trip with Searok Charters!

Ponce Inlet Offshore Fishing Report

It’s been a month since Hurricane Irma past through Florida. Offshore fishing is still trying to recover. Heading dead east from the inlet the water was still brown for at least 3 miles maybe more. It started clearing and getting green at 75 feet of depth. We ran to the 120 range and the water was clear but still green. Trolling non was non existent. Not even a bite on the planers which are usually our go to rig. We pulled lines and came back to the Party Grounds. We decided to bottom fish hoping our luck would change. Bottom

Lake Crescent Fishing Report

Fishing has been difficult due to Irma flooding has lead to relatively high water levels. Getting access to the lake may be tricky with some boat ramps closed or inaccessible. Waters at the start of this month will be murky and very tannin-stained due to runoff.  Numerous deadfalls scattered on the shore will hold bass, with patches of vegetation also holding other species of fish. The deeper edges of the north cut and grass patches along the west shore of the lake will hold crappie and tons of small gators. Anglers should have good luck drifting or trolling minnows or

September Offshore Fishing Report for New Smyrna Beach, Daytona Beach & Ponce Inlet

With the weather not wanting to cool down and 2 back to back hurricanes it was a tough month for fishing. We managed to squeeze in a few days offshore with decent results. We ran out to the Party Grounds and the 15’s chasing King Mackerel. Water temp still in the 80’s and the winds out of the east it didn’t take long for the planers to get bit. We ran black/silver spoons along with Bonita strips and a pink sea witch. Trolled over ledges and artificial structures with plenty of kings in the box and even a decent cobia.
