It’s prime time fishing offshore out of Ponce Inlet. The bottom fishing has been busy, Amber Jacks are finally showing up regularly. Most fun way to catch them is with a speed jig on a spinning reel. Inshore you’ll find a healthy population of mutton and red eye snapper with the occasional trigger fish mixed in. Mahi are still hanging around between 150 – 350 foot range. Water is getting warm, using a planer with a spoon or a diver lure will get them to come up to investigate your spread. If you don’t see weeds floating and want to blind troll try running a dredge with pink or blue lures. Lets hope they stick around for a few more weeks. Capt. Nick

Bottom fishing has been on fire. The red snapper are hungry and are hovering above any structure you put bait over. In the mix you will find red eye snapper, healthy supply of trigger fish, and out of season grouper. Also keep an eye out for cobia investigating the commotion around the boat. The long awaited Cobia run is officially here. Water temperature still in the mid 60’s it’s still colder than they like. Water temp being warmer closer to the surface than the bottom I would target the water column with live bait and cobia jigs. Ponce Inlet Fishing Report March 10th-17th

Water temperature at the 100 foot was 74ยบ. The bottom fishing bite was hot. The red snapper were not picky on the bait. They swallowed anything from cut bait to live pin fish. Red eyes were also biting on the bottom with squid and chicken rig. Trolling was slow, a few king mackerel mixed in with some Spanish, Lots of sharks, if you’re into fighting big sand bar sharks you will not be disappointed.
